Chelsea McClure is an Assistant Professor of STEM in the School of Education at the Notre Dame of Maryland University. McClure is a former middle school educator who has maintained a strong commitment to advancing science education as a faculty member through teaching, research, facilitation of professional learning experiences, and preservice teacher training initiatives. Her research explores interdisciplinary approaches to STEM education, emphasizing the meaningful integration of reading/literacy skills, art, and environmental education—an approach termed E-STREAM. Specifically, she investigates how climate fiction can be used to embed environmental and climate literacy concepts into the classroom as well as interdisciplinary environmental literacy, with a particular focus on faculty dispositions and the integration of environmental concepts into teacher training programs. Her scholarship also includes examining the role of emerging technologies in E-STREAM teaching and learning through 3D printing, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. In addition, McClure serves as the coordinator of the Higher Education Environmental Literacy Fellowship, which provides professional development for teacher education faculty members, and she co-directs the Cli-fi for Change Fellowship, which equips teachers with strategies to incorporate climate fiction into their curricula to foster environmental awareness and literacy.
