Members of NCSE are part of a national community committed to keeping ideology out of the science classroom. As a member, you stand alongside educators, scientists, and advocates who believe that every student deserves to learn evidence-based science, free from ideological interference.

Your membership fuels NCSE’s work to:

Monitor and mobilize the public, including our members, to challenge attacks on science education at the local, state, and national levels
Provide teachers with resources and professional learning
Develop and distribute free classroom lessons on climate change, evolution, and the nature of science

Common Membership Questions

I’ve been a member before. What should I do to activate my membership now?

Because this is a brand new iteration of the program, members of the previous program are not being carried over automatically.

If you were a previous member of our former membership program, we’d love to welcome you into this new chapter; however, you will need to sign up to become part of the updated program.

Your continued involvement means so much, and joining the new membership program will ensure you receive all current benefits and stay connected to our work to safeguard science education.

What is the difference between being a member and a donor?

At NCSE, both members and donors play essential roles in defending science education.

Donors give one-time or recurring gifts of any amount to help protect accurate science education when and where it’s needed most.

Members join our growing community of science advocates who stand with NCSE year-round. Membership not only supports science education and outreach and the fight against anti-science legislation, it also connects you more deeply to our work through member updates, educational events, and opportunities to engage with other supporters. There is a minimum amount of $50 to join for annual membership.

Can I be both a member and a donor?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, many people choose to make an additional gift beyond their annual membership fee to expand NCSE’s impact.

Whether you join as a member, donate, or do both, you’re helping to ensure that science education remains accurate, evidence-based, and free from mis- and disinformation.

A single minimum annual payment of $50 supports NCSE’s work for one year; however, you will be given the option of making an additional donation after you sign up for your membership. We recognize some supporters like the option of giving more for their annual membership whether at the time they sign up or throughout the year.

Is my membership tax deductible?

Yes. NCSE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Membership contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You’ll receive a confirmation email for your records.

How do I renew my membership?

As a member, you’ll receive a reminder email 30 days prior to your annual membership expiration date. You can renew your membership on your own, at any time, by visiting the membership page and clicking “Renew Membership.”

Annual membership is a minimum $50.
